4:00 am - Joy Electric Kickstarter For the New Album.

majesty1700
In case you've been living under a rock, Joy Electric has started a kickstarter for the upcoming album, "Dwarf Mountain Alphabet". JE is no longer on the Tooth & Nail label, so Ronald is on his own now and raising funds. Here is the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/146183208/joy-electric-dwarf-mountain-alphabet

Personally, I am going for the $75 option so I can get my hands on one of those delicious 7" vinyls currently up for grabs.

Cheers,

m1700

3:16 pm - The Otherly Opus delayed until March 2007!

majesty1700
*sniff* I had a huge block party planned for the original release date of December 5th and everything. What am I going to do now? Everyone will be so disappointed. The invitations are already sent :(

Some JE albums are supposed to be released in the cold weather. It goes well with the music. Take the White Songbook for example - nice fall weather/winter music. And it was released Sept. of 01. Tick Tock Treasury was perfect springtime music and it was released in march of 03. Hello Mannequin was good spring/summer music and it was released june 1st, 04. However, I can already tell that The Otherly Opus is going to be nice cold weather music. Yet it won't be released until MARCH!!!

Gah!

Thanks a lot, Count Ronald :(

11:22 pm - wake up~

analogue_soul
hello kiddies~!
i know there hasn't been activity here for a while, however i was just wondering something.

a long time ago, when i first got into jE, i heard what i thought was a fan-made cover of "Sorcery". I'm not quite sure anymore and i was wondering if anyoneknows what i'm talking about and/or has an mp3 of the guitar version of "Sorcery". I've seen it both unlabeled and then dubbed 'stadium mix'. But whenever i got looking, all i can find is the regular synth one (to which i love anyways, but still). i've been looking for that mp3 for ages; i'm starting to think it was just my musing.

a smidge of help?

11:46 pm - hello... hello... hello... hello...

aschildrenweare
Time to wake up this group =)

Hey all, this is Copperfield from the JE boards (for those of you who know me). I decided to break down and get an lj account, because I liked lj's features the best of the various services I looked at. Feel free to add me and I'll do the same.

As a side thought, is there anyone here that doesn't have "This Time"? (I was just listening to it, so I thought I'd ask...)

I just thought I'd post something since I joined about a week ago. My question is how long have you guys been je fans, and whats your favorite song. :D I know its hard to choose...so you can come up with a top 3 if you must. ;)

I first became a fan...Collapse )

10:45 pm - I need some LJ help

kecky415
Okay, this is a dumb problem, but I thought you would all be the best ones to help me.

I'm trying to think of something clever to write for my comments links in my journal and I'd like to use a reference to a JE lyric. Well, I really wanted to use a Promise Book lyric, to match my icon, but I already thought about that for WAY too long before I figured out there wasn't anything that would work.

Anyway, I've thought through my favorite songs, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

12:27 pm - Introduction/etc.

japanesecandy
I just found out about this group, and I'm a massive Ronnie Martin fan, so here I am. I'm dying to hear all of Hello, Mannequin, but all I've heard so far is the mp3 of "Disloyalist Party" and a remix of "The Works of Unknowns." Both incredibly good, naturally.

I have a experimental/ambient electronics project called anaphylaxis that Ronnie did a remix for some years back. It was on a limited-edition cd-r of remixes from one of my old albums, and it might still be floating around file-sharing networks in mp3 format somewhere. If anyone's interested, I have some mp3s up at http://www.ic-musicmedia.com/anaphylaxis (including two new tracks I just uploaded today), and some others at mannequin oddio media and IUMA. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Is anyone else here a fan of Twink? If you haven't heard of them, you would do well to check them out. Music made with toy pianos and other children's musical instruments mixed with standard instrumentation and some electronics. Sounds range from simple, pretty melodies to moodier, ominous pieces. Well worth a listen.

GOOD LORD! ronnie really has done it! my comment about 'Disloyalist Party' is now completely void of relevance in context of this amazing album. definitely an excellent entry in the legacy series and quite possibly the most cohesive Joy E. record in my opinion. what does everyone else think? i can't pick a favorite song at the moment since half the record right now is my favorite song. i'm ecstatic!!! :-)

'Disloyalist Party' is a great song and all, but for me it seems to follow a little bit of the standard Joy E. driving pop single of late. not a bad criticism, but from the few tracks i've heard... 'Friend Of Mannequin' is just SICK! that lead synth line and the melody is just gorgeous! my 2 cents...

by the way, did anybody who ordered the $33 package specify t-shirt size? cuz i don't think i did :-)
